With The Participation Of More Than 300 Researchers And Experts, ‘Desalination' Concludes The Third Edition Of The ‘Water Research Community' Initiative At The University Of Tabuk

Participants concluded the third meeting of the “Water Research Community” initiative, which was organized by the Saline Water Conversion Corporation in cooperation with the University of Tabuk, today (Thursday), with the participation of more than 300 researchers and experts in the field of water. During the discussion sessions, the participants discussed the future of desalination and water treatment processes, Clean and renewable energy, marine mining, development of membrane desalination materials and advanced materials, in addition to the environmental sustainability of desalination processes.

Researchers and experts participating in the initiative presented more than 50 research proposals, covering a wide range of topics related to water desalination. The recommendations that were presented included the need to unify efforts to achieve water security at the local, regional and international levels, and to ensure securing sustainable sources of water.

Experts and researchers from the most important Saudi and Gulf research centers and universities discussed future research directions for the desalination industry, a map of its technologies and sustainability solutions, and ways to improve the reliability and efficiency of energy technologies.

The Saline Water Conversion Corporation confirmed that this gathering is an important platform for exchanging knowledge and experiences and enhancing cooperation between researchers and academic and industrial institutions in the field of water. The Corporation has shared its fifty-year experience with universities and research centers, with the aim of enhancing scientific and technological progress in the field of water desalination and directing efforts. Research towards achieving water security.

On the sidelines of the meeting, it was announced that Khalifa University in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates will host the next fourth edition of the initiative, and Taif University will host the fifth edition that follows. These hostings come as part of the efforts made to contribute to drawing up plans and strategies to confront future challenges in... Water industry.

In the same context, three research agreements were exchanged between the General Corporation for Saline Water Conversion and a number of universities, the first of which was a research agreement with Taif University, which aims to study the behavior of types of engineering alloys in high-salinity environments. The Corporation signed a research agreement with the University of Tabuk to use sensor technologies for early detection. About jellyfish, the Foundation also signed a third research agreement with King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals to develop an advanced thin layer of nanoparticles and reverse osmosis membranes with anti-bio-pollution properties for water desalination.

The “Water Research Community” initiative forms a close link to unify efforts and enhance cooperation between researchers and academic and industrial institutions in the field of water. The initiative aims to enhance scientific progress and exchange knowledge and research to develop the water sector and its sustainability towards achieving water security and providing sustainable sources of water, as the third edition comes. In Tabuk, in continuation of the success of the previous two versions of the initiative organized by desalination through its research arm, the Institute for Water Technology Innovation and Advanced Research.
