A former water-board manager in Alabama who squandered taxpayer money on strip clubs is heading to prison for the offense.

In June, Scotty Moore pleaded guilty “to theft and ethics charges in Fayette County Circuit Court. He was sentenced to serve two and a half years in prison and repay $200,000 that he charged to a city-issued credit card,” the Tuscaloosa News reported.

“Court documents show Moore used the credit card at two strip clubs on Bourbon Street in New Orleans, plus Teasers in Dothan and The Furnace in Birmingham. He also was accused of using the card to buy lingerie, jackets, sweaters, high-heeled boots, vehicle accessories and a computer program to hide his crimes,” The Associated Press reported.

Moore was charged with ethics violations because he used his position for personal gain, first-degree theft, and second-degree theft, according to the Tuscaloosa News.

“He pleaded guilty to five ethics violations, two counts of first-degree theft and one count of second-degree theft. The remaining charges were dropped as part of a plea agreement with prosecutors,” the report said.

Moore read a statement in court: "I would like to apologize to this court and to the people of this county for my actions that bring me before you today. While I am honored to have served this county and am proud of the good work that I did, I brought dishonor to the office entrusted to me and deeply regret the wrongs that I did. I love Fayette and its people, and I take full responsibility for my conduct."

Moore was employed at the water board for 17 years, according to Yellow Hammer.
