Shimadzu's TOC-V Series will revolutionize the way you think about TOC analyzers. Consisting of seven new Total Organic Carbon/Total Nitrogen (TOC/TN) analyzers, the TOC-V Series delivers:

The TOC-V Series consists of:

Sample Oxidation Methods

Combustion Method
Shimadzu was the originator of the catalytically-aided platinum 680°C combustion technique for sample oxidation, which has become the industry standard. The Shimadzu TOC combustion technique was recognized for its ability to analyze samples with particulates, refractory compounds, and high salt matrices in wastewater and other difficult matrices. The pure water market has Shimadzu's TOC combustion analyzer to measure below 1 part per million (ppm), down to 4 part per billion (ppb). Again, this Shimadzu first became the benchmark in the industry. The 4 ppb detection limit easily addresses the 0.500 ppm limit required by the drinking water and pharmaceutical industries.

The new TOC-VC combustion analyzers meet these needs and have a measuring range of 4 ppb to 25,000 ppm.

Wet Chemical Method
In the past, Persulfate-based methods have been known to have incomplete or slow oxidation of particulate samples and refractory compounds. Some manufacturers supply UV-Persulfate TOC analyzers, while others supply Heated-Persulfate systems in order to improve the oxidation efficiency of the persulfate system. Shimadzu is proud to introduce the first Heated-UV-Persulfate system that utilizes three oxidation methods for maximum oxidation efficiency. The TOC-VW is the most powerful wet chemical TOC on the market, capable of measuring down to 0.5 ppb of TOC and up to 3000 ppm.

PC or Standalone TOC-V Analyzers
Many TOC analysts prefer standalone operation of the TOC analyzer, while others prefer personal computer (PC) control. The Shimadzu TOC Visionary Series lets the user the best analyzer for the situation.

Advantages of PC-control include data export to standard Microsoft® programs such as Excel® and Wizard functions for transforming the novice into the expert in a few minutes. The PC version is available with the combustion or wet chemical oxidation method by ordering TOC-VCP or TOC-VWP, respectively.

The major advantage of the standalone version is the small footprint, as the TOC-V, the Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) monitor, keyboard, and printer are built into the analyzer. This can be a major advantage when lab bench space is at a premium. The standalone version is available with the combustion or wet chemical oxidation method by ordering TOC-VCS or TOC-VWS, respectively. The standalone unit can be upgraded to a PC version.

Normal or High Sensitivity (TOC-VC and TOC-VE)
The TOC-VC combustion systems appear in two configurations, the High (H) Sensitivity and the Normal (N) Sensitivity. The High Sensitivity and Normal Sensitivity have detection limits of 4 ppb and 50 ppb, respectively. The High and Normal Sensitivity TOC analyzers can be ordered as Standalone or PC-based systems. Normal Sensitivity TOC can be upgraded to High Sensitivity TOC at any time. The price-conscious consumer may want to consider the TOC-VE economic unit with manual injection.
